Permit Services Center
 The Center processes all City permit applications required for residential and commercial remodels plus new construction projects, including: planning, zoning, building, trade, engineering, traffic and fire permits for these various projects.
Glendale residents are encouraged to contact the building & Safety Section before beginning any project to check if permits are required.
Permit Services Hours: Monday Wednesday Friday: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Tuesday Thursday: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm (Limited hours for the Building Plan Check Counter between 12:00 and 4:00 pm only).
Appointments are required on any time you wish to consult a building plan check engineer. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (818)548-3200.
The "Permit-by-Fax" program allows contractors to apply for permits which do not require a plan check via fax.
"Express Plan Check" enables a project to complete the initial plan check phase on a pre-arranged date by utilizing staff overtime for a slightly higher fee. To determine if Express Plan Check is available for your project, please call (818) 548-3200.
Building Inspection
 Building Inspection enforces the City's building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, handicap, and energy codes, as well as all other state and local requirements relevant to the construction and occupancy of public and private structures.
Codes are enforced by eleven building inspectors who annually conduct over 10,400 building inspections, 8,000 electrical inspections, 3,700 mechanical inspections, and 6,000 plumbing inspections.
